Fantastic Film School is a specialized program dedicated to training talented young filmmakers in the area of film genres. Fantastic Film School theme of 2010 is “SWISS DESIGN in HOLLYWOOD.” Swiss concept designers and art directors who established unique realms of Science Fiction movies and Games in Hollywood, will show their distinctive works.
Concept Art is the foundation of game and movie sceneary, charactes. Concept art defines the wold of movies and computer games.
Fantastic Film School has two parts, Exhibition and two lectures-Fantastic Class, and Master Class.
SWISS DESIGN in HOLLYWOOD exhibition, initiated by Pro Helvetia Swiss Arts Council, along with Fantastic Class and Master Class, provide invaluable opportunity for public to understandb Concept Art, Character Creation, Fantasy Creatures, and Scenery Creating that are mostly used in film, animation, and game making process. They are becoming the mainstream of film, animation and game contents, and the major products in cultural contents market. Hence, through the programs of Fantastic Film School, Korean audience will enhance their understanding of the field, and experience the end products. Also, Fantastic Film School expects that this will further channel the communication and the interaction among Korean film and gaming industry and Swiss organizations and world-class artists of today.

A ten-day exhibition of 30+ artworks and sketches by H.R. GIGER, Christian L. SCHEURER, John HOWE,
Deak FERRAND and other artists along with the screenings of individual interviews with each artists.

Fantastic Class
Patrick J. GYGER will introduce the general information about the program he created, SWISS DESIGN in HOLLYWOOD, and its origin. Christian L. SCHEURER will present his 15 years of works, including his illustrious working experiences in Hollywood, and provide understanding of the concept design frequently used in various fields of films, animation, and games.

Master Class
Master Class is a professional level of workshop for individuals who work in visual image industry.
In this class, Christian L. SCHEURER will show the actual process by going through every step of Hero Painting Process
mainly used in movies and game production, delivering his unique know-how in the process.

Christian Lorenz SCHEURER
An acclaimed art director and conceptual artist, Christian has involved in multiple Hollywood blockbusters, including
<The Fifth Element> 1997), <Titanic>(1997), <Matrix>(1999), <Final Fantasy :The Spirits Within>(2001), <The Day After Tomorrow>(2004) and such notable video games as <The Lord of the Rings : The Return of the King>(2005), <Spore>(2008) and soon to be released <Diablo III> as well as animated films.

Patrick J. GYGER
Patrick J. GYGER is a renowned Swiss historian, writer and currently the director of Maison d’Ailleurs, a museum housing the finest collections of literature relating to science fiction and utopia. He was also the artistic director of the Utopiales International Science Fiction Festival International in Nantes, France from 2001 to 2005. Patrick received the “Grand Prix de l’Imaginaire” in France twice (2001 and 2010) for his work at Maison d’Ailleurs.
